What We Fund

For the past eight years, the Foundation has dedicated the largest share of its resources to ending family homelessness in Massachusetts. One Family Inc., a nonprofit created by the Firemans to advance this vision, currently operates a scholarship program for formerly homeless and at-risk women and conducts a major campaign to end family homelessness in Massachusetts. To promote permanent solutions to homelessness, the Foundation has joined with other funders to create Home Funders, a collaborative fund that finances very affordable rental housing in Massachusetts (homefunders.org), and it supports research and pilots that show how homelessness can be ended. The Foundation also supports other causes and organizations where there is interest and engagement of its trustees, including efforts to strengthen families and promote international human rights. Our work on homelessness has led to a deepening interest in anti-poverty strategies.
